Renewed Strength and No Fainting!
Isaiah 40:31 – But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
Sometimes we can be drained of strength because we are not willing to wait on God. Here, the word, wait, means patiently tarrying. It is good to wait on direction and then cooperate with God’s plan and His timing. He wants us to believe Him and take the steps forward as He directs.
Why wear yourself out trying to do things in your own way and your own strength? You have a helper, the Holy Ghost. While you are waiting, listening and exercising your faith, you are being renewed to finish your course. God will let you know when to march and when to rest. If you’re following His plans, He will strengthen you as you use your faith to believe Him for whatever is needed.
When eagles fly, they can get to a certain level in the air and then glide if they choose to do so. This reminds me of a time in my life several years ago. I was in college with a heavy class load, was pastoring two churches, and had a young family to take care of. One day, I was completely exhausted, so I decided to go to a lake where I used to fish and just rest. While I was there, I saw a flock of white birds flying over the middle of the lake. Some of them were pumping their wings really hard with all they had, wearing themselves out to stay above the water. A few of them just had their wings spread and were effortlessly gliding over the water. The Holy Ghost said to me that day, “Son, stop pumping your wings so hard.” In other words, stop trying to do it all by yourself and trust Him. Which flock are you in? Are you wearing yourself out trying to do everything by yourself, or are you gliding on the wind of His Spirit, resting and trusting in His word for renewal of strength.
Without Him involved, you will be exhausted and weary. I had no idea God was going to talk to me about some birds flying over the water and use it to show me what He did that day. That was nearly 30 years ago. I remember it like it was yesterday and, from that moment I, took heed and changed my mode of operation by yielding to Him, believing and trusting Him which has kept me from being weary, fainting or quitting. If you are weary or if you have fainted, just get back with God and allow Him to strengthen you. Come right back to the personal times with Him to stay renewed. Never be weary again; never faint by living and staying renewed in the Lord Jesus!
